Thoughts of a 23 year old
Hey Girl, you made it!
You’re 30 and you’re alright. I hope this note finds you well and loving life. They say life goes downhill at 30, but I hope each day only gets better and that you are still experiencing new adventures every year.
I hope you’ve stopped being so harsh on yourself. Remember to be kind and compassionate, not just to others but yourself as well. Let go of the need to be critical, especially towards Christians and the wealthy. Everyone has their own journey, and showing empathy can go a long way.
I hope you’re taking care of your health. Remember that your body is a temple. Treat it with respect, nourish it well, and it will look after you. I hope you are sleeping early and waking up early, making the most of each precious day. Time is a gift, and every moment is an opportunity to live fully.
I hope you are still deeply in love with Tristan. May your relationship continue to grow in understanding and intimacy, reflecting God’s goodness. Be the woman of God that he deserves and desires, and I hope he is being a man of God worthy of your respect. Keep the romance alive, go on dates, and cherish each other. Don’t settle for complacency; you’re a one-of-a-kind girl, and he better not forget that. Strive to be a better team and spur one another on to be more Christ-like.
And hey, if you two broke up, I hope you are okay. You’ll live. Hopefully, you’re friends, but it’s okay if it’s too difficult. Remember, you don’t settle. If it didn’t work out, trust that God has a plan for you, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
I hope you have, or are on your way to, adopting some siblings who need love. If you’ve found a more beneficial and sustainable strategy for loving children who need it most, then you go, girl! If not, then take a moment to reevaluate your life and align it with your passions and purpose.
I hope you haven’t gotten sucked into the comforts of the blessed life God has gifted you with but that you are passionately living out your life for Jesus. Remember, there is a raging spiritual battle, and you’re on the frontline.
I hope you’ve gone to el sur de America and visited Machu Picchu. I hope you got the stamp and made unforgettable memories.
I hope you are deeply in love (with Jesus first and a wonderful man next). I hope your man is others-focused, self-aware, and that you love doing life together.
I hope you live your life simply, uncomplicated, and actively. Stay true to the “nomadic Christian” spirit and don’t get too caught up in the busyness of life. Be present in each moment.
I hope you have worked quiet times into your schedule and that they are as necessary as your daily bread.
I hope you still love food and that you’ve become a better cook and baker. I hope you’ve done the artisan crust croissant and danishes class with Mum again.
I hope Mum and Dad are doing amazing work for God. Heck, I hope you are too and that the whole Lok gang is out there being radical for God’s kingdom. I hope you’re all still just as close as now (or even closer). Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind.
Whether it’s a house, apartment, unit, room, shack, shed, granny flat, tent, caravan, or tiny house, I hope you have a home now that you can call your own.
I hope you love yourself and that you like what you see in the mirror. Embrace your uniqueness and celebrate your journey.
I hope you are still crazy and still suffer from fits of violent laughter with AnnMarie and Ken. Keep the joy alive and cherish those moments of pure happiness.
I hope you haven’t given up on Kalanika, Sabrina, Joel, and Mai Mai. Continue to nurture those relationships and make a positive impact on their lives.
I hope you’re making a positive impact on those around you and leaving a legacy. Be proud of yourself and confident in who God has created you to be.
I hope you’ve learned how to use InDesign or Photoshop. I hope you have finally written in your blog. I hope you’ve learned how to drive stick, tried riding a motorbike, and gone skydiving.
And hey, if you’re dead by now, WHOOOO!!!! That’s the best! Party in heaven.
